Ruth Chris - A Sizzle, Swizzle, Swirl Fan Does Dinner
Reviewed By Beth Dilley and Friends. I am not a fan of chain restaurants, but when someone suggests happy hour, I think of Ruth Chris Steak House in Sarasota. The “Sizzle, Swizzle, Swirl” (their name not mine) menu is just $8.00 a plate, serving anything from ahi tuna (my favorite) to a tenderloin skewer salad. They also serve a mean burger!
So when it was suggested that we celebrate a friend’s birthday on Saturday evening, I was thinking that is my happy hour restaurant, not my fine dining restaurant! I will have to admit that Ruth Chris delivered a very satisfying and creative dinner. I had the lobster mac and cheese, which was different from most restaurants because this recipe contained mild green chili peppers, which was a nice compliment to the sweetness of the lobster and the richness of the sauce. Since my intent was to share the dish with the table I also ordered the Osso Buco ravioli’s. Just for the record, I also shared the ravioli’s! Simply stated, I would order them again. Ruth Chris also allows you to bring your own wine for a corkage fee. Since this was a special occasion we brought a bottle of 2004 Raymond Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a bottle of Nickel & Nickel 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2004 Montalcino Brunello, which we brought back from Italy Like most food nerds, I took some photos!
